A Guide to VVS Diamond Rings Clarity Rating

You may know that diamonds are graded according to the 4 C’s, namely color, cut, clarity, and carat. VVS falls in the category of clarity of a diamond. Keep reading the article to know more about VVS clarity grade.

The Basics

Inclusions are flaws in a diamond. VVS refers to Very Very Slightly (VVS) included diamonds. A diamond with clarity VVS means that the inclusions are so small that they cannot be even seen under 10x magnification. This grade is further divided into VVS1 and VVS2.

The former has inclusions near to the stone’s edge, while the latter has inclusions towards the center. Among these two, the VVS1 grade is slightly more valuable than VVS2. However, both these inclusions are not visible to the naked eye.

Buying Guide

VVS diamond clarity comes only next to Flawless (FL) and Internally Flawless (IF) grading. However, if you buy VVS diamond rings, you can easily note that there is a considerable difference in the cost of VVS diamond rings when compared to FL and IF diamonds.

As the inclusions are not readily visible, the stone will appear visually perfect, and hence, VVS diamonds are a smart investment. However, if your budget does not allow you to buy a diamond of this grade, you can choose a lower grading. Nevertheless, keep in mind that flaws in diamonds increase the farther you go down the chart.
