Which Type of Pearl Ring to Purchase

While most people go for pearl and diamond ring for the aesthetic appeal, which pearl to select is often confusing for buyers. Of course, white diamonds or even colored ones flawlessly match and highlight pearls most of the time, but what about the choice of pearl?

To answer that, you have basically two options to choose from freshwater and saltwater pearls. The former type of pearl is a product of mussels inhabiting freshwater rivers and lakes, while the latter comes from ocean oysters. Besides classic round, freshwater pearl can be irregular in terms of shape exhibiting unusual colors, whereas saltwater pearls usually come with ideally round shape and mirror-like luster. These properties make saltwater pearls a perfect engagement ring choice, although they are not easy to find as freshwater pearls.

While saltwater pearls are of investment-grade value, the quality of freshwater pearls is closer to commercial-grade jewelry. Irrespective of the rarity and price, both freshwater and saltwater pearls are impeccably beautiful. So when it comes to selecting one, the price of the pearl is often the deciding factor.
